Get a Library Card
The Red Bud Public Library is a tax-supported library – a portion of City of Red Bud property taxes are allocated to the Red Bud Public Library every fiscal year for funding.
City of Red Bud Residents and anyone who owns and/or pays taxes on a property within the City limits may be eligible for a 3-year Library Card.
Anyone living outside of the City of Red Bud limits and do not own and pay taxes on a property within City limits may be eligible for a 1-year Library Card with an annual fee of $65 (cash or check). Libraries’ service areas correspond with the surrounding school districts*. The annual non-resident fee covers up to 2 library cards for the same household. The Red Bud Public Library Non-Resident Fee is determined yearly by the total of City of Red Bud property taxes, average household number and population.

Online Services (Library Card is Required)
To ensure our patrons are getting the most out of the services that are offered with a library card, we encourage them to utilize the InterLibrary Loan (ILL) services available to them. The Red Bud Public Library is a part of a large network of libraries in the southern Illinois region called Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS). If patrons are wanting a specific material that Red Bud either doesn’t own or our owning copy is checked out, we can place a request for the next available copy. That copy will then be shipped and transferred through the ILL system to be ready at Red Bud for our patrons to access.
Patrons can place requests on their own through the Card Catalog options below. They can also have a librarian assist them, either over the phone, email or in-person on your next visit.
Card Catalog
Aspen is our online card catalog. You can browse Illinois Heartland Library Collection (all 500+ libraries) and browse what is available to you. You also can check your library account status (renew materials, place holds, etc).
To Login: Use the library card barcode number (on the back of your library card) and the 4-digit password that was given when opening or renewing your library account.
If you have questions or need to reset your password, please contact the library.
Click here to access the Card Catalog
Aspen was implemented on March 6, 2024. The SHARE Mobile Library app will still work on personal devices.
As of October 2025: Aspen does not have it’s own app. Users can bookmark the catalog in their devices search engine or create a shortcut on their homescreens. The SHARE Mobile Library app is still compatible with Aspen.
CloudLibrary
A Red Bud Public Library card allows patrons to access the CloudLibrary – a place for eBooks and eAudiobooks on devices. Items are checked out for 21 days and get returned automatically on the due date – no overdue fees.
To Download the CloudLibrary App on your device (go to GooglePlay Store or Apple App Store, Amazon Fire App Store).
Use the Following Prompts to Login:
1. Choose Country: United States
2. Choose State: Illinois
3. Select Nearest Library: Illinois Heartland Library System
You will need your Library Card Barcode Number (on back of library card) and 4-digit pin. Call or contact the Library for assistance.
Click here to access the CloudLibrary online.
Login prompts are same as above.
With Aspen, all CloudLibrary items can be checked out in the card catalog.
The CloudLibrary app still needs to be installed to access material.
SHARE Mobile Library App
The SHARE Mobile Library app is available to patrons through the GooglePlay Store and the Apple App Store, free to download and install.
The SHARE Mobile Library app is a quick, convenient way for patrons to access the card catalog and everything the Library and IHLS has to offer. Users can place holds, request materials and also link family accounts to keep track of all items checked-out.
